Sweets are in the bag
The plastic bag issue continues to rage in my world.
Just recently I attempted to purchase food items from a well known chain and I purposely requested three bags. The cashier thought it would be in my best interest if I try for one, possibly two. Really? She attempted to cram all my stuff, including hot take out, into one bag, and reluctantly used a second bag.
Out of principle I am, after all the customer, and paying for said bags I politely asked for the third bag. The cashier then proceeded to grace me with a lecture, ending with you have no say in this come January. me? It only because I was tired, and hungry and fed up, but it took all my energy not to leave everything and just take my business elsewhere.
I thought supermarket cashiers were there to, well, cash out groceries, not pass judgment on purchases. The irony being I was purchasing several food items that came nicely packaged in plastic. That right from my strawberries to the roasted chicken to the bottled water, even the container of olives, all ready to go, in plastic.
And I being singled out for requesting an extra bag. Give me a break!
